A Monday list of games
Mondays will always be Mondays. Personally I don’t mind them. Today, that is. I’ve had a great first day in a new job, and very excited to get going with some different projects. With that said, I have encountered the occasional daydream of doing other things.
I met up with my cousin yesterday. He showed me a bunch of games. We looked at some trailers and talked a bit about games we’d tried before. It was a good research day, which left me super excited to try out a range of games I’ve never played before.
Unravel is the top game on my list. So far it appears absolutely stunning, with smooth graphics, a sweet message, and with a mesmerizing soundtrack. The game was developed by a Swedish company called Coldwood Interactive, and published by Electronic Arts. It was announced on June 15th 2015, and has yet to be released. The main character is an anthropomorphic creature made out of yarn. The yarn that makes up Yarny, the character, represents love. As Yarny moves further away from what he loves, he unravels.
KINGDOM HEARTS III (2015? Fingers crossed!)
Kingdom Hearts was one of the first games I was addicted to as a kid. I can’t wait for this next release. The game is the Seventh (I might be wrong, it’s a bit confusing) in line of the Kingdom Hearts titles, and is developed and published by Square Enix.
I’ve never played Okami! I know, it’s terrible, but to be fair, I’ve never played a lot of titles. I recently bought the art book of Okami, which made the game a temptation from the turning of the first page. The game is being developed by Clover Studio and published by Capcom.
Limbo has probably been on an earlier list of games I’d like to try too. I still haven’t gotten around to it. But I will, it is on my to-do-list. I adore the design style of this game, even more, I envy it. It seems completed to perfection. Note: I’m a bit confused on the release date. This trailer is from 2012 but the game was originally released in 2010. The game was developed by Playdead and Double Eleven, and published by Microsoft Studios and Playdead.
ORI AND THE BLIND FOREST (2014)
Oh – my – coffee. Nearly better than coffee. It looks stunning, in every possible way. It has to be good, it must, it will. I mean, look at it. The game was developed by Moon Studios and published my Microsoft Studios.
NIGHT IN THE WOODS (2015)
I like the illustrator/collage design style of this game. Quotes like “Because we won’t last” empowered by light-hearted music also really caught my attention. This is one I’m really curious about. I can’t quite make up my mind about it. Which is why I really want to try it, of course. The game is being developed by Alec Holowka, Scott Benson and Bethany Hockenberry.
THE LAST GUARDIAN (2016)
Prepare: your eyes will tear up. This teaser trailer is absolutely heart-melting. I’m guessing the creature will make a huge toy range, I predict plushies everywhere. The animation is smooth and beautiful, the characters sweet, weak and powerful. The setting is a mysterious haze unravelling as you play. I’m actually longing for this to be released. It’s beautiful. The game is being developed by genDESIGN and SCE Japan Studios, and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.
Now this one is heart-thrilling. I’ve only seen this short trailer, but I will check it out in greater detail one day. The game was developed by Campo Santo and published by Panic.
Plot: A man retreats to Wyoming to be on the lookout for forest fires. He interacts with his supervisor Delilah over radio contact. The voice acting is deep down brilliant.
