#DrawChal: Rat

Today’s challenge took a while longer than I expected. I had a lot of fun with it, and got quite distracted by cute rat pictures. Anyways, I made it! (sort of, it’s not really morning anymore).

I began by analyzing my reference images. I tried to locate their basic shapes, which gave me a good idea of how a rat is built up.

I smiled at the Slowpoke that appeared on the right…

This one was too two-dimensional, so I began sketching with more perspective.

Once I had a sketch I liked, I began painting it. Again with the painting. I think this is turning into a sketching and painting challenge… But I’m going to keep the requirements to sketching for now, haha…

I began by sketching out a background environment and adding some rough values…

I Googled up an image to use as a colour palette. I blurred it up real nice, and added it as a base background.

Edited the colour a bit, and there you go! 🙂
