Pixar studies: Day 1
These sketches are the results of my personal Pixar study program.
What is that?
It’s a self-initiated project in which I take 20-or-so minutes every morning to copy frames from Pixar’s colour scripts and/or storyboards into my own sketchbook.
Why do you do this?
Earlier this year, while finishing my BA in Set Design for Screen, Tom Brass from Jellyfish Pictures gave us a lecture in visual storytelling. He said that one of the best things to do in order to improve, is to study Pixar’s work. Pixar artists are masters of visual storytelling.
I’ve been watching Babby Chiu’s ChiuStream on Youtube. He talks about how important it is to warm up your creative muscles every morning.
So that’s what I’m doing, and why. You can check out more here 🙂
